Media & Content Experiences

Designing a calmer, smarter news experience

TV4’s digital newsroom delivers thousands of daily stories,  from breaking news to entertainment. But the old reading experience made it difficult for users to explore related content or read comfortably without distractions.

My role

I led the redesign of the article and discovery experience, focusing on how readers find, follow, and stay engaged with stories. This meant addressing:

  • Overwhelming layouts with inconsistent ad placement
  • Poor tag navigation and related-content visibility
  • Interruptive auto-playing video behavior
  • Lack of hierarchy in headlines and metadata

What I did

  • Introduced tag-based content discovery, letting readers find related topics seamlessly.
  • Re-architected the article template for readability and hierarchy, optimizing for line length, contrast, and scannability.
  • Designed adaptive behavior for video embeds, ensuring playback felt integrated and optional.
  • Partnered with editorial teams to create flexible components for headlines, media, and inline cards.
  • Modernized typography and spacing to create a more “breathable” reading experience.

My impact

The redesign led to measurable increases in scroll depth, session duration, and cross-article engagement, while drastically reducing complaints about intrusive ads or video playback. Readers now describe the experience as “calm,” “clear,” and “easy to explore.”

TV4 Play – Reimagining how viewers watch and interact Challenge

Designing a calmer, smarter news experience

As Sweden’s most-used broadcaster platform, TV4 Play needed a player that adapted to modern viewing habits, binge-watching, multitasking, and mobile use. The old player was rigid and often broke flow at key moments.

My role

I co-led the design direction for the player UX across web, mobile, and smart TV platforms, from playback controls to recommendations and accessibility.

What I did

  • Designed a new player information overlay (program card with description, logo, and progress bar) for live channels.
  • Introduced a 6-hour DVR progress bar allowing users to rewind and replay live programs.
  • Defined the end-screen experience, balancing next-episode logic, credit sequences, and recommendations.
  • Collaborated with engineers to optimize controller logic for React Native and TV OS, ensuring parity with web.
  • Worked on subtitle scaling and readability improvements after user complaints, introducing larger, adaptive text sizes up to 72-inch screens.
Ad-tech & Monetization Systems – Designing clarity behind the scenes

I designed a unified interface vision and KPI framework for Nirvana (OMS redesign), TV4’s next-generation order management system.

What I did

  • Conducted user interviews with ad planners to map their day-to-day workflows and pain points.
  • Led user journey workshops that revealed fragmented campaign visibility and lack of data confidence.
  • Created North Star frameworks aligning design KPIs with operational goals (e.g., “reduce manual corrections,” “increase data trust”).
  • I mapped the entire systems currently used to identify frictions and opportunity areas for the proposed design

Strengthening consistency across TV4’s ecosystem

To support the TV4 Play redesign and internal tool modernization, the design team needed a more unified, flexible, and maintainable design system that could work across both consumer-facing experiences and operational platforms.

My role

I contributed as a design system collaborator, helping refine components, document patterns, and shape emerging standards that would support future features and cross-platform consistency.

What I did

  • Shaped new components needed for the TV4 Play player, including POI overlays, skip controls, auto-progress states, and ad-related UI.
  • Documented interaction guidelines for scrubbing, playback behaviours, and accessibility states , ensuring consistency in how features behave across platforms.
  • Participated in component audits, identifying duplicates, inconsistencies, and missing foundations (spacing tokens, typography rules, state variations).
  • Collaborated with developers to ensure new designs were feasible, reusable, and scalable, not one-off solutions.
